On Tuesday morning there was a lot of snow, by the afternoon much of it had thawed. On Wednesday the ground was frozen hard, so we pruned soft fruits. One in three of the blackcurrants branches were cut out, old wood and tips cut out of red currants and Gooseberries were spur pruned.
Some people from the Poldrate art group were in to collect cut willow to use for crafts. On Thursday the rural skills development students finished off cutting back the Rhododendrons in the forest. We’ve also been weeding around fruit tree circles and cutting suckers from their base.
