Monday and Tuesday were cold, the pipes had frozen. People continued to tidy the Western herbaceous border: Chopping back and raking leaves. Other people continued with the path building: Laying hardcore barrowed in from outside the walls.
By Wednesday the pipes had thawed and unfortunately we had a small leak. So Wednesday morning was taken up with mopping up puddles in the cabin. In the afternoon we had our volunteer Christmas meal at the Maitlandfield hotel. It was a good meal! Here we said goodbye to Gary who has worked with us for a year through funding from Community Jobs Scotland, thanks for all your help Gary!
The previous Thursday the garden was used as a celebration venue for students doing their John Muir Award. This Thursday through to Friday we continued clearing the Western border and building the path. Others started giving the roses in the central circle a winter prune.
